A quick tip before we dive in: The best location is one that feels like you. If you're homebodies, a park might feel strange. If you love dressing up, a grand architectural spot could be perfect. Think about what vibe you're going for, and you can't go wrong!
1. Hermann Park
Vibe: Classic, Green, & Versatile
Why You’ll Love It: You really can't go wrong with Hermann Park. It’s a Houston classic for a reason! It offers so much variety in one place. You have the stunning Mary Gibbs and Jesse H. Jones Reflection Pool for a dramatic, elegant shot, the beautiful Mecom Rockwell Colonnade for timeless architecture, and endless trails shaded by gorgeous, mature oak trees. It’s romantic, iconic, and perfect for a couple wanting a traditional-yet-beautiful feel.
Tips for Your Shoot:
Permits: A photography permit is required for all professional/commercial photography. You must contact the City of Houston Parks and Recreation Department in advance to secure it.
Crowds: This is one of Houston's busiest parks. A weekday morning (sunrise, if possible) is essential to avoid large crowds at the Reflection Pool and Colonnade.
Timing: Early morning gives you soft light and fewer people. Late afternoon is also beautiful but will be much more crowded.

Permits: This is private property. There is no official permit. You shoot at your own risk and may be politely asked to leave by security.
Timing: Just before sunset. You are there for the golden hour light hitting the Williams Tower and the Uptown skyline.
Pro Tip: The key is to be "low-profile." Work quickly, use minimal gear (no large light stands), and be respectful. If a security guard asks you to leave, just thank them and go.
